Obsessions and Compulsions
The continual repetitive thoughts that intrude in people's minds can become very exhausting and disabling. Orderliness, perfectionism, control, inflexibility etc. often characterize the obsessive person. Sometimes, if severe, it can cause extreme difficulty at work and often leads to impatience with others. Family problems often occur due to the inability to tolerate "one more thing to fix," or "one more problem to deal with." Concentration is interrupted, and/or excessively focused, to the point of not being able to listen to, or do, anything else. Though individuals are aware of the irrational nature of the obsessing, they can stop it. Along with obsessions, some people experience nearly uncontrollable urges to do something (or several things) that they know does not make sense. Ritualistic behaviors, touching things, cleaning, etc. are frequently seen. These often meet the criteria for compulsions. Obsessions and compulsions, either separately or together can be very effectively treated. Medications and therapy may help with modifying the intensity of the symptoms. Therapy can also help restructure thought processing, and change many behaviors. Get the relief you desire.
